The Sept of the Three Old Oaks
Telephone call

Generic NPC User Picture
Less than a week after the pack's adventure in Binghampton, Irene receives a call from her mother.

"Irene, were you in Binghampton recently?"
20th-Oct-2008 11:44 am (UTC)
Ms. Drake takes a deep breath. "There was a story on the news today about a group of people breaking into a hospital in Binghampton a few days ago. They think they murdered a doctor and kidnapped some of the patients, and they assaulted some of the staff and stole hospital property." There's a pause, and it sounds like Ms. Drake may be breathing faster on the other end. "The police sketch they have looks a lot like you." Her voice goes up an octave. "Irene, you know I love you, but if you're in some kind of trouble, please tell me."
20th-Oct-2008 09:23 pm (UTC)
There is a pause before Irene answers. "Mom, I'm very glad you called me, and I promise, I will explain everything to you. It's not what you're probably thinking, but the situation is complicated, and it's not the kind of thing we should be talking about over the phone. Why don't I come and get you, and we'll go somewhere we can talk privatly?" Irene makes an effort to keep her voice calm and soothing, but to someone who knows her as well as her mother, she still sounds nervous.

Even before she has finished speaking, she sends a message via the totem to her Alpha and to Henry. **My mom just called. The police have sketches from our last adventure, and apparently the one they showed on the news tonight looks a lot like me. I'm not going to lie about it to her, since I'm going to have to tell her sometime, so I'm going to try and get her to come to Henry's to tell her everything, so that if she panics, it will cause less of a problem, but failing that, I'll bring her to our apartment. Henry, can you let you family know that I'm may be on my way? And David can you call Aidan and let him know about the sketch, and see what he says to do about it?**
20th-Oct-2008 10:13 pm (UTC)
**I'll ask him, but don't worry about it. A couple minutes on the phone and we can all have airtight stories.** Replies David over the link. **Ya might not want to give mama the whole story in one go. News about you killing folks might be a little hard to take and out as few of us as possible. Just like we did telling Nina.**

((OOC: Mighty GM do you want talking with the cop to be a scene or hand waved in an email?))

** I'm not sure how to avoid the killing people part without lying to her, which I'm not very good at. I suppose I can say that I didn't kill the Dr, and not mention the guards. Maybe I should just bring her to the apartment, and not get Henry's family involved.**

"...Why don't I come and get you, and we'll go somewhere we can talk privatly?" Irene makes an effort to keep her voice calm and soothing, but to someone who knows her as well as her mother, she still sounds nervous.

There's a pause on the other end, and then Irene's mother says slowly, "All right. But I want to hear the truth, all right?"
21st-Oct-2008 11:23 pm (UTC)
Irene nods before remembering that her mother can't see her. "You will. But it's a little complicated, so you're going to need to listen to the whole story before getting to the part you want to hear."

((OOC: Shall we hand-wave picking Mum up and skip to wherever the conversation is going to take place?))
22nd-Oct-2008 06:18 pm (UTC)
((OOC: Seems about right. If David is at the apartment, Irene will bring her mother there, if not, she'll take her to the Eriksen's farm, on the theory that her mother will need more then one reassurance that she isn't going crazy. (Has Irene's rage recovered enough from the adventure in Binghampton that she'll have enough to go Lupus and back again without hitting Crinos in between?)))

((OOC: Yes, she can have recovered the Rage.))
28th-Oct-2008 06:57 pm (UTC) - At the Apartment
Irene leads her mother in to the living room, and turns on the lights after making sure the curtains are drawn. She gestures towards the couch, and takes a seat in one of the opposing armchairs. "Please, make yourself comfortable, and excuse the clutter, we currently have a long term house guest."
29th-Oct-2008 11:40 am (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
"Another one?" Irene's mother asks as she takes a seat on the couch. Her forehead creases in a worried frown. "Irene, dear...are you absolutely sure that these people are, well, on the up and up? They're not making you do anything illegal, are they?" She swallows. "If they are, we can go to the police and tell them they forced you to do it...that should help your case."
29th-Oct-2008 07:10 pm (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Perhaps it is a result of nervous tension, but Irene finds her mother's concern about her pack mates humorous, and has to fight down a nervous giggle. "No, they're not making me do anything illegal, and yes I'm reasonably sure they're on the up and up."

Irene sighs and the laughter leaves her eyes. "I do, however have something very important to tell you, but I need your promise that you won't tell anyone else, or talk about it with anyone who I don't okay."
29th-Oct-2008 08:25 pm (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene's mother frowns, but then she seems to relax a little and reaches over to pat her daughter's hand. "I know what you're going to say, and I'm fine with it." The corners of her mouth quirk up a little. "I'm glad you feel comfortable enough with it to tell me."
29th-Oct-2008 10:35 pm (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
"You do?" Irene says in a confused voice. A thought occurs to her and she winces. "Do you mean that I'm bisexual?" She pauses, awkwardly. "Umm, that's actually not it, altough the only reason I haven't told you that is that it's kind of hard to bring up, not that I'm uncomforatable you knowing." She pauses again. "Err, it's actually something weirder, but I promise I'm not crazy, and I will show you evidence."
29th-Oct-2008 11:55 pm (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene's mother looks confused. "But I thought..." She sighs. "All right, then...what do you want to tell me?"
30th-Oct-2008 12:32 am (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene is silent for a few moments as she contemplates trying to break it to her mother gently, but fails to come up with any good way of doing so. "Mom, I know this is going to sound crazy, but I'm a werewolf." Without giving her mother a chance to respond she continues. "I will show you, if you promise not to try not to scream or panic when faced with a wolf... It will still be me."
30th-Oct-2008 12:39 am (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene's mother blinks, startled. After a perceptible pause, she says, "That's...very funny, Irene. Now, seriously...what did you want to tell me?"
30th-Oct-2008 03:11 am (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene gives a frustrated sigh. "I am being serious." She frowns and sends a warning to David via the totem. **She's not believing me. I'm going to have to show her, and she may panic. Be prepared.**

Taking a deep breath, Irene stands up, and steping away from the couch, shifts to Lupus.
30th-Oct-2008 03:42 am (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
((OOC: Irene is using rage to shift instantly, hoping to avoid Delerium in her mother))

((OOC: Roll from Asmor to click on Persuasion: 1, 5, 8, 10, 2, 2, 9. I didn't see an option to email it to you.))

David enters from the kitchen like an actor that was waiting for his cue. His sleeping son is tucked into the crook of one arm.

"Stay cool, Ms. Drake. You don't want to wake the baby," he says quickly hoping to move faster than her fear.

30th-Oct-2008 12:12 pm (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene's mother is as white as a sheet. With her enhanced senses in lupus form, Irene can hear the frantic pounding of her mother's heartbeat.

"She...she..." Ms. Drake stammers, her eyes wide and staring. Her quickened breathing is very loud in the sudden silence in the room. Suddenly, she crumples to the floor in a dead faint.
30th-Oct-2008 02:54 pm (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene shifts back quickly, running over to her mother to make sure she's okay, swearing softly under her breath.
30th-Oct-2008 06:30 pm (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
After a few tense minutes, Ms. Drake revives. Looking at Irene's human face, she blinks, then eases herself back on to the couch.

"I...I..." she stammers, then takes a deep breath and seems to get control of herself. "I'm going home...I need to think about this." Without giving Irene or David a chance to respond, she continues, "I need some time to think - you can't expect me to take this in all at once." She gathers up her coat and purse and heads for the door, still obviously shaken by what she's seen.
31st-Oct-2008 12:05 am (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Irene starts to move to intercept her mother, then stops, her shoulders slumping a little. "I understand you need time, it's not something that's easy to take in, but I'm still me, and I still love you." She pauses. "It was rather a shock for me too. When your ready to talk, call me, okay?"
31st-Oct-2008 12:13 am (UTC) - Re: At the Apartment
Ms. Drake pauses at the threshold, various emotions warring in her as she looks back at Irene. "Okay," she says, after a perceptible pause. Then she walks out the door, her face still pale.
