The Sept of the Three Old Oaks
Meet the ancestor
29th-Sep-2008 06:41 pm
Henry nude
The Sept's assembly area is a circular area surrounding a large oak tree; there is enough room for perhaps 150 Garou and Kin to sit comfortably. Surrounding the tree is an open area, large enough for a group of Crinos to more around comfortable.

On one side of the tree, an open fire pit was been constructed by stacking old bricks to form a low circular wall. A spiral, wrought iron braclet is suspended over the fire on a polished wooden staff supported by two forked branches. A shirtless blond in leather pants tends the fire, occasionally feeding in a piece or two of wood to maintain the fire.

It's still early so the assemmbly area is still almost deserted. Henry, nude and painted with a multitude of sybols and designs, sits on a cured deer-skin mat, reaches into his bag of runes, and casts them.

**Let's see who I should invite for this rite.**

Henry casts the bones and reads the results. **Eoin Seven-Lights it is.**

Leaving the bones where they fell, Henry starts chanting....

A bit over three hours later, Henry is no longer seated, though the cast bones are still where they fell. Other items have joned them on the deerskin - items of personal importance to various Kin, from an old framed photograph to a ring or a chipped plate.

There is an audience seated around the tree, watching the proceedings. A red-headed usher seats a late arrival. While the assembly area is by no means full, a the number respectable number of Kin and Garou seated is respectable.

With a sense of resolve, Henry begins to wrap up his Rite of Summoning. "Eoin Seven-Lights, a Crescent Moon of the Fianna, I call on you..."

((OOC: Henry needs to peirce the Gauntlet first: Spending a Willpower; Gnosis roll of: 2, 5, 7, 5, 4, 5. For the Summoning Rite, also spending a Willpower, difficultuy reduced by three for spending three hours on the rite, and by whatever the GM determines is appropriate for Henry's preparations. Wits+rituals roll is 7d10: 7, 2, 4, 8, 7, 8, 3))

As Henry finishes the rite, there is silence for a heartbeat or two. Then, the air shimmers, and the translucent form of a man with broad shoulders and a mane of shoulder-length hair framing a narrow face appears. There is some sort of torc around his neck, and his tunic still bears the faint pattern of some sort of checked material. His ears have metal loops in them, and there seem to be some sort of beads woven into the strands of hair near his face.

His voice is still rich as he looks down at the ritual site and asks, "Who is it who calls me?"

"I am Henry Eriksen, known as Guards-the-Kin among the People, nephew of..." Henry slides into the rythm of his introduction, the familiarity of the words giving him a chace for a private thought or two.

**Imppresive voice. Nice-looking guy too....**

Henry finishes his introduction, "...Godi of the Get of Fenris."

"But I am not the important one here. Gathered before you are many of your decendants, who have come to meet you. Friends and family, Fianna and Get of Fenris, they live and work together here, Garou and Kin alike. I have called you so that you can meet them, perhaps speak with some of them, to see why I hold them in great stead, and why I think they are worth of your favor."

Eoin looks at the gathered Garou and Kin. "Aye...I see my family in many of them." He looks thoughtful. "But why are they all gathered here? Is it because of you, son of Fenris?"

Henry blinks. "I hadn't thought of it that way, but I can't say you're wrong. Not that it's the whole story either, as many here worked hard for this. But I did set things in motion, and am the one responsible for this."

"I am no bard, but I would like to tell you a little of what we face, and what favor I would ask of you, in hopes of aiding everyone here."

"Speak, then," Seven-Lights replies. "I will listen."

"There are far too many who say these are the end times. I like to think they're wrong, but we certainly have some serious problems. A few years ago, this Caern suffered a major attack and many Garou were lost, leaving only two packs and the elders. And not everyone in the remaining packs survived either. The Kin have shouldered much of the burden since then. They share guard duty along with their Garou relatives, and in the last, more recent attack, a number of Kin died defending this Caern and those who dwell here. We do have a third pack now, that I'm part of, and some other allies, but we don't expect any Septs to have anyone spare to help us. Within the past couple of years, two of the nearest Caerns have fallen. And with the most recent one, we know the enemy's strength has increased, as the sole survivor has joined us and identified some of his former packmates as Black Spiral Dancers we have fought since then."

"So the Kin are still a vital part of our defenses. I..." Henry grins wryly. "It doesn't really matter what I'd like to happen. The best way to make our Kin safer is to help them protect themselves. I haven't come up with a way to make them stronger, or heal like us Garou, but I have come up with an idea."

"The Umbra is a beautiful place, and part of our strenth as Garou is that we can reach it. Our Kin can't. They can't aid us there, nor retreat there. And as things stand now, if we fail Gaia, we will have failed our Kin too. There will be no starting over, even if some of us Garou survive the end, as we will have no Kin."

"You can help us though. Aid Gaia and help your children's children survive. With your help, we can have Kin join us Garou in the Umbra." Henry gestures over at the fire, and the wrought iron bracelet hanging over it. "I have worked hard to make you a suitable home. Many of the Kin here helped with the making, in one way or another. And as you can see," Henry says gesturing at the blond tending the fire. "Kin have help purify it too. So I ask you, for the many who have worked for this moment, will you agree to make this bracelet your home, to create a Fetish so that a Kin wearing it can step into the Umbra?"

Seven-Lights seems to consider what Henry has said. He looks at the gathered Kin and Garou, and then at the bracelet hanging over the fire. "A speech worthy of one of the Fiann!" he says, looking pleased. Then his expression turns serious. "But it proves that you love your family very much...just as I did." He looks down at Henry with a faint smile. "Very well - I accept. Care for your Kin well, young Godi - I will be watching."

With that, his form dissipates into a shimmering rain of sparkling lights. For a few moments, the wrought-iron bracelet shines with a warm, golden glow; then the glow fades, but the bracelet feels alive, somehow.
